Hi,

I have a 2007 TCH and would like to get a 10/100/0 warranty so that is 3/36 from Toyota and a additonal 7/100/0 from someplace.

Reading through these post the cost seems reasonable but are they for total or additional years? ie "Bought Midwest's 7yr/100K/$0 Platinum plan for $964"

The warranty is for the total miles/time on the car. The 100K warranty expires when you have 100,000 miles on the car. Not 136,000.

Isn't that called ummmmm..."Theft?"
Glad it worked out!

Yeah, it was bordering on fraudulent.

Do you know if they have longer plans... Something like....

15/200/0 or 15/150/0?

The TCH is such a high quality car, I am not sure a 7/100 is worth it.

thanks after looking up the warranty for MA 15/150 on the hybrid covers what I worry most about. 3-year/36,000-mile Comprehensive 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain 5-year/unlimited-mileage Corrosion Perforation 8-year/100,000-mile Hybrid-related Component Coverage 15-year/150,000-mile Hybrid-related Component Coverage (applicable states are: CA, MA, NY, NJ, VT, CT, ME, NH and RI) with the exception of the hybrid battery. The hybrid battery is warranted for 10 years/150,000 miles.

Hey guys I'm purchasing a 2007 TCH that was imported to Canada but was originally registered in the US. Would I be able to purchase a US extended warranty on this vehicle and have it valid here in Canada? Has anyone had any success in doing so?

Hey Guys,

So I've been searching around trying to figure out if I could purchase a US Toyota Extended Warranty for my TCH 2007 and get it serviced here in Canada and here is the answer I've gotten so far.

As long as the vehicle was originally a US vehicle and imported into Canada, you can purchase the EC from a US dealer and still get it serviced in Canada. I was told that by the dealer I called for the EC as well as by Toyota USA and they did say that as well that it would be able to be serviced in Canada.

So that saved me a bunch!

I contacted Doug/Tara of Danville Toyota (No sales tax in Illinois) and was quoted:
7yr/100k = $1100
8yr/125k = $1665

I also contacted Jake Sacks from Crown Toyota (add 7% sales tax in Kansas) and was quoted:
7yr/100k = $990
8yr/125k = $1595

So I think I will be going with with Danville Toyota since they were able to give me a solid answer to my inquiry while Crown Toyota referred me to contact Toyota USA.

I also found out that these dealers can't sell the EC for a Canadian vehicle. It only works for US VIN numbers.

Hope that helps everyone out!!!

I believe you are buying a car with ~50,000 miles.
If you are paying ~$1000 to get a warranty that only covers you for an additional 50,000 miles (about three years) are you really saving money?
I don't know what expenses you will have, but considering the battery is covered under the original warranty for 8/100,000 is it really a good deal to pay over $300 a year for a warranty?
Why not just pay any repairs out of your pocket?
I know it's a gamble, but the extended coverage sounds VERY expensive.
My 12 year old Avalon (190,000 miles) cost me about $950 in repairs over the last four years...and that's for a much older car.
During the first 100,000 miles, I spent considerably less than the cost of the warranty
I'd reconsider...

Or ... price out the repair for just about anything electronic on the car. The non drive train non traction battery warrantee is 3/36 and the least you'll pay is $1000 for anything electronic that fails. Extended warrantees also include rental car and reimbursement which the base warrantee doesn't. The last thing you want to do is have to pull $1000 bills out your behind when you are on a trip because that ECU failed.
Also you can do better way than $1000 on a Toyota Platinum if your purchase it from Greenfield Toyota or others listed further up this thread.
