What is the dumbest part of the TCH?
I think the thing that bugs me the most is the fact that there are so many things that turn off ECO mode, instead of just temporarily overriding it. It really should be a "set it and forget it" thing, but it is not. And I don't like the fact that I had to make a custom DVD nav disk in order for my passenger to put in our destination while we are moving.
I tried again, I pushed my fuel door button about 400 times from 80MPH all the way down to 5MPH and it did NOT open until I was stopped and in park...Am I just lucky?
Yikes! I thought my shop visit was bad at 35 days. I hope you have a free rental car like I did. Depending on what state you live in, there may be a lemon-law applicable here, in case you want a new car instead of the one you have. I don't encourage that, but the choice may be yours.
If your name of nyc2socal means you moved to Southern California, and bought your TCH here in CA, I think the lemon law kicks in after 30 days.

Damage: $15K (evidently, total loss is 70%)
I actually pick up the car tomorrow! 9 weeks.
I always thought that was a safety feature, so you don't inadvertently harm a person whose body part is in the track of the window. That's one feature I hope never comes to cars...an automatic guillotine.
What do you mean, "no memory seats"? My '07 TCH has it. The seats remember where they were when I stopped, and they remember to not to move.
( Just Kidding!! )
Both the sensing and the multi-position switches add cost for auto-up windows. A non-auto window has a 3-position switch, while an auto-down window has a 4-position switch, and an auto-up/down has 5 positions. Sensors are needed for detecting the full down position of the window for auto-down, or both the up and down for full auto. Obstruction sensing is done with motor current monitoring.

As I surmised in another post, if you add all the goodies in your mid-priced version (Camry) what incentive is there to purchase the premium version (ES300)?
In addition, the cost of these features (if they were standard) would price some consumers out of the market.
I know there are other differences between the cars, but they don't want the cars to canibalize each other's market.
They need to maintain differences.
Lexus is sold to the luxury consumer, it adds all the goodies and charges for it.
Camry is sold to value conscious consumers who'd rather save a few bucks and not get the "automatic tushy wiper", etc.
