My TCH was supposed to have a remote starter installed. The dealer is trying to install it but having problems. They say it must be a defective device and ordered a new one. Has anyone else had problems with this after factory install?

 

Had mine installed last year ; no problems with it to date.

Mine was installed by Southeast Toyota (SET), before I took delivery of my TCH last November. No problems so far...

 

I am thinking about adding the remote start .....what is the actual range of the toyota unit? I have heard that it is only about 80 ft. which is not very far.

 

I really don't what the alleged range is. I can start the car from inside my house, probably a 6-7 foot distance. Perhaps 10 feet when I do the same from my office (all pointing the unit at the car (via the window). I do wish that the remote start would enable the rear defroster (if the button was pushed on when the car turned off), but it does not (I am in Michigan so it does get cold and snowy at times).

Had to replace the oem remote start ecu , after that was done the unit was reprogramed and has worked properly since .
