Power source up top for radar detector?

Re: Power source up top for radar detector?
I have mine in my HAH similiar to how a lot of you have yours installed. Escort Passport 8500 x50 mounted to the top of the rear view mirror, power cord running inside the headliner, down the A-pillar, into the dash, and into the fusebox on a switched circuit.
1) it's almost invisible from outside the car
2) the switched power source means the detector only turns on when the car is on
3) opening up the A-pillar will show you where the airbag is, and is easy to ensure the wiring won't get tangled up in it
4) sure, driving a hybrid you tend to drive slower. But then again, there are those times...
5) does anyone else have a problem with the laser warning going off when at low speeds and you slowly apply throttle and a few blue bars of assist start to climb? For some reason, my laser sensor loves to be triggered under those conditions. I get similar results with my handheld aviation radio. When at low speeds and assist comes on, static on the radio increases.

Re: Power source up top for radar detector?
Thanks for the help guys. This weekend, I will post some pics of my install and some tips (if needed)
bar10dah, what radar detector do you have? For some reason, maybe co-incidental, my iphone sometimes sets off the radar detector and I think I am experiencing the same thing when "lightly" pushing down on the pedal. I will check and to see if that is really causing the issue.
Thanks everyone, you have been great help,
Paul

Escort Passport 8500 x50. I rarely get false alerts (I also turned X-band off) on the radar signals, but I occasionally get false lasers when the IMA kicks in at low speeds.
