Has anybody heard of roof-racks? They are probably easily available for the Camrys. No need to drop cycling just because you buy a TCH!!!

These roof rack sites look promising:

http://www.yakima.com/Consumer/Step1.aspx

They have rear racks as well, good luck!

There's no perfect solution. Here is a list I came up with though I probably missed something:

Roof rack:

Pros
less likely to launch bikes on the highway
easy to mount bikes

Cons
people tend to hit their bikes on low overhangs such as garages
unaerodynamic/decreased FE
expensive
not easy to remove/install
can scratch roof
wind noise
bikes exposed to insects (but can be covered)

Hitch rack:

Pros
more aerodynamic
bikes less likely to be coated with insects
hitch rack can be removed easily
easy to mount bikes

Cons
obstructs rear view
can scrape when backing down an incline such as a driveway
hitch installation requires modifications to the vehicle
towing voids warranty

Trunk rack:

Pros:
inexpensive
no modifications to vehicle

Cons:
must be setup each time; sometimes a PITA
most likely rack to launch bikes when driving on the highway

Heh, if it comes down to it the cycling isn't what's getting dropped.

I'm not a fan of the roof racks, and I've considered the hitch rack but if I'm going to get that I'm just going to put one on the back of my current car(Accord) and wait a couple more years before getting another car.

That is actually not a bad idea. I bet the mileage of a hylander Hybrid would be similar to that of a TCH with two bikes mounted on the roof.

I have a Highlander non hybrid and i love it. I think it drives and rides better than my TCH to be honest. I am a big guy though. I have driven the Highlander Hybrid and it is a rocket!
