Default New 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid owner

'Got it 3 weeks ago. FWD (what I prefer) and fully loaded with NAV, leather, etc. Although I've been driving an Escape since 2001, I'm not a fan of the quality of U.S. cars vs. Toyota and Honda. So I purchased a 7 year, bumper to bumper, Ford plan ($2,300).

First main impression: unbelievable that Ford could design and manufacture a vehicle so technologically advanced. I'm a computer nut, and this car is like driving a computer. But it also appears to have similar power to my previous Escape, so I'm surprised and satisfied all the way around. It's the first time in years I've been excited about having and driving an automobile.

Love my FEH!

Actually, Ford really didn't design the Escape hybrid, they got the technology from Toyota I believe...Come on, do we really think any of the domestic automakers will come out with a true hybrid of their own design and technology anytime soon...

If you go through the historical threads on the FEH, it was not developed from Toyota technology, though there are some parallels with the technology used in the Prius, such as the Atkinson cycle engine. Ford and Toyota have some licensing agreements in order to avoid patent infringement questions for parallel development, as I understand it.

The FEH has been out for about two years now, and there has not been a wide recall that I'm aware of, though there are some technical service bulletins out that concern some problems.

Only time will tell as to the overall reliability, but that holds true for any new model.

If you haven't yet, I suggest you read the FEH FAQ.
