Default Dutchy just joined

Hi everybody,

just joined here as I was looking for a place to share my enthusiasm for Hybrid cars. I was thrilled to find out I could afford a Prius as my next company car. I think this new technology should be supported anyway, but when I test drove the Prius II I fell in love completely.

I ordered the Prius in May and finally collected it September 15th. We've got 2000 km on the clock already and average milage is still going down (4.7 l/100km currently). Since the roads here are always busy, I think it's ideal hybrid country. Sometimes, when stuck in traffic again, I dream about how it would be if all the cars were hybrids; we all could just open the windows and hear the birds sing, wouldn't that be cool!

Looking forward to sharing experiences with you lot.

Marja

Welcome to www.greenhybrid.com and congratulations on getting your Prius!

Something that should help everybody - a converter of liters per 100km to miles per gallon (US) and vice versa. I'm taking the liberty of quoting you with your measurements in the Imperial system.

Your fuel economy is great so far!

I ordered the Prius in May and finally collected it September 15th. We've got 1250 miles on the clock already and average milage is still going down (60 miles per gallon currently). or about 51 US MPG ..

Welcome, Marja !

GreenHybrid is a nice place; an international greenhybrid is that much better. I hope you enjoy your new Prius as much as we do (except for the in-fighting who drives it. I just had to promise dinner out a few minutes ago ..).

And, keep posting in your favoured FE (fuel economy) units. It does us insular N.A types good

To put your FE in the 'compare' database, I think a couple of conversions are required --
One US Gallon = 3.7854118 Litres
One US mile = 1.609344 Km

US EPA of 55 MPG = 23 km/L = 4.3 L/100 Km.

Cheers !

Default Was My Conversion Wrong?

I just realized my conversion might be wrong - British mpg is not the same as US mpg. Was it?

Hi Chuck,

If I remember correctly, an imperial (british) gallon is about 1.2X a US gallon.
So 60 miles/Imperial gallon sounds about right.

Thanks for the welcome, guys!

I've put in my FE record in the DB, dubbed our Prius BlueSky (for the occasion, I don't usually name my cars). I love the idea of a DB with real milages, and it has the additional advantage that you'll be able to see the milage in MPG terms.
