Default Winter Tires

Can anyone here recommend a good set of snow tires for the HCH-II, for an Ontario winter? Thanks.

Last year I bought a set of Blizzak WS-50s for the Accord and they did great in New England. They were on for less than 4,000mi but the tread barely wore as far as I could tell. I have heard great things about the Michelin x-ice, too.

Blizzacks are great. Tirerack doesn't have the WS series for the HCHII, only the REVO series. It is s'posed to be better on ice and packed snow but less capable in heavy snow than the WS.

I just got the Revo's from Tirerack but have not used them before. I wanted the WS's but they do not come in the Civic II size. Reviews that I read seemed positive.

I recently bought Continental Vikings for our 2 HCHs. I paid $80 cdn (balanced plus $60 for ea. steel rim) in the Toronto area. Ottawa gets more snow than Toronto, for this reason the Bridgestone Blizzak may be a better choice.

Last February (2006) when I got me new HCHII. I bought 4 NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA RSi.

I really loved them.

They are rated with a really low rolling resistance which is good for FE and also they are using a new type of canola oil compound in the manufacture of the tyre, giving the tyre excellent properties in an environmentally friendly way.

For more information on the tire:

Also recently in Quebec a news paper released testing result for winter tires and they where classified in first position. Sorry the result are in french.

I hope this help you to choose...
