toast:
Minimum wage in Iowa: $5.15
Minimum wage in California: $6.75
Working at minimum wage for one year at 40 hours a week for 50 weeks (2 for vaca):
Iowa: $10,300
California: $13,500
Lets not mention that anyone with a high school diploma can make more than minimum wage out here (albeit to make good money relative to the rest of the state, you have to be something special), and that if California were its own country, it would be the 7th LARGEST economy in the WORLD.
Living in Calfornia: Priceless....

btw, no one in Iowa (okay, to be fair ALMOST no one) works for minimum wage. If anyplace offered anywhere near minimum wage they would have no employees. Starting wages for McDonalds is somewhere around $7.00.

Here in the Midwest we don't outrun tornados. We track them on weather.com or the weather channel, put our HCHII in the garage, get in the basement with our flashlights and portable radios and hope for the best. We can look in to the sky here and see the horizon (unlike southern California I am told)

Re: Honda Civic Insurance Rates Sky High
My story would be saddest I pay around 2300 per year in Boston MA. for two cars 2004 honda Accord and 2006 Honda Civic hybrid. Two cars in the policy and 2 drivers me and my wife,I have clean record with no tickets and claims but my wife has a minor at fault accident and the other car driver claimed 800$ so our premium has come to this figure.1400 for 2006 HCH and 900 for 2004 Accord. The Accord has a discount for second car..... .My agent is AAA.
