If I go 80 and set the cruise on a basically flat commute of 80 miles, I get about 40mpg. I typically go around 75 and don't use the cruise much. I have been doing that for 15k miles and you can see my actual mileage below, 44.

I have never reset trip B and it has gone to 0 mpg. I don't know when, but I'm at around 13k miles (purchased HCH2 in early Nov 05). So the trip mpg will stop calculating after a period of time.

Keep track in a log book or use the real mileage database here.

If you're going 70-80 MPH I don't think you can expect better mileage.

I get better mileage in city driving than going 70 MPH on the freeway. It sounds like you still need to train yourself to drive with a lighter foot when accelerating and stopping.

I get roughly 35 mpg in most city driving, but city driving is extremely unspecific as there are many many types. It can refer to low-traffic roads with occasional stops, in which it's easy getting 45-50 mpg, or it can refer to high-traffic roads where it's difficult exceeding 32-35 mpg. But on most days, my highway trips at 75-80 mph are where I get my highest mileage, which is usually 40-42 mpg (but can be higher if I don't exceed 75).

You know you're a hybrid owner when you say, "only getting 38-40 mpg"!

trip b resets to 0 at 10000 miles automatically. it isn't made to go over 9999, so you can't use it to gauge your lifetime FE.
