you may have a problem with the clutches in the CVT. I've had an issue with it revving and grabbing lately, too. Typically when it's cold out. have the sensors checked and the clutches themselves.

I have the same problem here in NE and the car actually will roll backwards like it is in neutral until you give it some gas and it engages. Seems like we need a firmware update to fix this.
