Default Monitor my overall travel distance

Hello friends. I have just drove for the first time my brand new HCH II and i am really very happy with my car. But i have one newbie question. I saw that the car has two mile counters A and B. I want to use A to monitor my overall miles from the day i first drove the car for many reasons ( service purposes mainly ) But i think it is very easy to accidentally erase the meter and loose all the data on it ( overall distance and fuel consumption ) Is there any way to prevent this from happening eg to lock the A meter in order to show always the overall distance traveled without the possibility of an accidentall erase ?

Thanks in advance. I really think that a C counter would be extremely useful.

You might use the odometer. One click from trip B. But it doesn't store mpg, only distance, so if you really want that record all tanks in the milage db or by hand somewhere.

edit : sunday morning Yes , i have an odometer separately from counters A and B. Sorry friends for the big mistake.

The US ones reportedly reset every 10,000k--there are only 4 digits on trip A & B. I've never seen any of mine go higher than 700 miles though since that is the most I've ever gotten on a tank (which I monitor with Trip A), and since I reset trip B every trip.

Yup, 9999.9 on US trip odometers, and mine also haven't seen that high a number. A is used for tanks, and B for oil changes.

LOL! I had one too in this thread when I said "10,000k"--I meant "10k". Going 10,000,000 miles on a trip calculator might be kinda difficult....

So does a 60's moment relate to your age, or the decade?

K (sometimes has 90's moments)
