Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end

Re: Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end
Recently Toyota has recalled a bunch of Prius' for problems. Honda has as well.... so the domestics are not alone in screwing up... they just seem to be alone in being noticed for it.
I hear ya! Truth be known, last year Toyota recalled more vehicles then it sold in the USA.
just a little fun fact

Re: Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end
OK, so has this thread dried up?
Has everyone's squeaks gone away? Did my sarcastic comments clear the room?
Well our squeak is still trailing along behind our new FEH...but at least the Ford sevice folks have acted on the TSB and are ordering the brushing part.
Would be interested in knowing whether the reported "squeaks turning into groans" after the brushing replacement have resolved themselves. I'm taking deep breaths and preparing for this new noise.
I'm no mechanic but our squeaking (besides disapearing whenever we got anywhere near the Ford service area) also would disapear whenever we made a left turn and would go away completely if we made numerous left turns (ie. went in circles turning left). Also, as reported by others, our squeaking went away when braking....so what would this have to do with the brushing replacement? Anyone with some mechanical knowledge have any ideas.

Re: Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end
Still squeaking, but haven't taken her in for dealer service. Our baby's due in 34 days and at this point I figure a screaming wee one in the back seat will cancel out the Escape's annoying and now quite persistent rear suspension squeak. If the two seem to augment one another, however, rest assured my FEH will be headed in for service pretty speedily!

still groaning. varies with weather/temp. I'm pretty sure it is the passenger side rear shock. Haven't been to the dealer in a while....which is a good thing....so I'm living with it. I think when things warm up and I start opening the windows that may motivate me to get it looked at....

Re: Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end
Assuming anybody is monitoring this thread: I have an '08 MMH presenting the symptoms shown earlier in this thread: a squeak or chirp from the rear, modulating with wheel rotation speed, which appears to be worse in the heat. It will squeak when stationary, parked and leaning on the back end, applying pressure to the suspension. Started at about 4k miles and comes and goes for the last 1k. More pronounced on left turns. Can get pretty loud and conspicuous. This rig has a lot of class until it presents this sound, when I become an instant cheeseball.
Is it possible that Ford/Merc did not build the fix (TSB 620121) into the '08s? I'm about ready to call the dealership tomorrow to schedule the fix, but trying to understand if I'm on the right track. Is this a real and consistent fix for my scenario?
Glad to be here with all y'all.

Re: Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end
We have both a rear brake and a suspension/spring squeak. The rear brake is a sort of <chirp> as others have observed. The suspension squeak actually bothers me more. When getting in and out of the car, there is a significant squeak from the back left side (think of the sound that a bed mattress makes when it is being "stressed").
We took the car to the dealer and they told us that there is a technical bulletin to address the suspension squeak and that they needed to order some new insulators. Once those came in, we took the car back to have them installed but it doesn't seem to have made a difference - the car still squeaks about the same as before. Not sure if we'll continue to follow up on it or not.
Is this (the suspension a la bed springs squeak) a common issue and can it be remedied?

Re: Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end
Mine is squeak-free. After the fix, there was a different "groaning/creaking" noise for a while but that went away. It may have just been the new parts breaking in.

Re: Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end
No squeak...but there is that "mattress" sound (spring being unstressed but not seated correctly) that MrBigDog2U mentions. It is not constant but it does "cheapen" the car. So far no affect on handling or performance of the vehicle though.

Re: Squeaking 06 FWD FEH rear end
Anything is possible, but all Escapes/Mariners built after 9/3/06 are suppose to have it.
