back to the drawing board, ssn after start, showing low voltage tcm

after cleaning the back cat and a couple hours conservative driving around town and a short 4wd test and noticing the ice was no longer stopping at idle, i parked it, next morning: ssn

jump charging again then disconnecting the 12v for reset, code check and test drive, etc

So all is well? I've enjoyed following the trials and tribulations in this thread.

still going strong, though i intentionally keep acceleration and speed down, 20mpg around town tells me i need a tune-up or injectors or?

still a paycheck or two from a pro check-up

gotta get my tire psi up

update and some progress

great dependability, comfort, and satisfaction, but efficiency is the next challenge
24mpg is getting on my nerves and decided to buy a scangauge2, advanced has a 25% online coupon so the total was $130
showing engine temp 160, traction battery temp 90, tbvolts 120, state of charge 54%, after driving around town in low 80's air temp
the a/c is not chilling at all, there is a bit of quick eratic clicking from the engine sometimes, a/c compressor cycling?
so i have a thermostat ready to go in, its rated for 195f, too high?
anything special about recharging the a/c, or x-gauge to check it?

thanks in advance!

OE thermostat is 187 degrees. I would stick with that.

Nothing special about the AC except that you have rear AC, so it takes a slightly larger refrigerant charge.

BUT...since you are doing that anyway, buy the valve that goes into the bottom of the compressor and have that changed at the same time. The part is only $25 or so. Search for the part number in earlier threads.

I put gauges on the a.c., looks like plenty of pressure, low 60, high 130, sound normal? This was while the engine was still warming and 70 btm. Scangauge shows the a.c. switching on manually and automatically for the battery, but the battery is still at 90 and the cabin isn't chilling, the clutch engages when the key is on.

what next? Would the expansion valve be the one under the compressor?

Evaluate after engine has been warmed and A/C system has been running for 5-10 minutes using the following values for your ambient temp:

http://acprocold.com/faq/r-134a-system-pressure-chart/

Based on your current numbers, low side is high and high side is low indicating a weak/failing compressor - it can't create the pressure differential necessary.

It's also possible someone mucked up the refrigerant/oil ratio, but I don't think you'd get the those readings - likely it would behave more like an orifice tube blockage/failure (low is low and high is high).

Thanks for the chart, ambient was 75, on my second check. 45-50 low, 145-150 high. Warmed engine but the btm did not get to the point that the rear a.c. activated. Also I have a plastic grill block to help warm the engine but it was 155, tomorrow may be warm enough to get the temps up. Noticed that with 80 ambient at the start of trip the thermometer in the a.c. vent was 65 after a few miles.
