After the bumper to bumper warranty runs out, I do all of my own service, except oil changes, which is cheaper at the shop and they can recycle the old oil. find/ steal/ borrow a FSM and you will be free of most shop labor.

Case in point. A friend sent me a FSM for my dakota. In the past 4 months alone I have fixed a caliper issue (TSP), installed pads, rotors and adjusted rear drum brakes, changed a timing chain/belt, all new belts & hoses, installed new shocks, replaced all the door rubber, replaced a cracked window and installed a new exhaust system including the cats. I saved at least $1000.00 labor with a few handtools and free time.

Not sure about the FEH E brake set up, but most are mechanical (cable) setups using a drum on the rear hubs. raise the parking brake handle and there is an adjustment screw. Turn it out ( counter clockwise to loosen, clockwise to tighten.

Your squeak is metal on metal. make sure the gasket on top of spring perch is still there or it may be a spring coil touching another spring coil. I use silicone to silence this. Another thing to look at is the rear shock mounting bolt. lube is with silicone and make sure torqued to spec.

Let us know!
