Sounds like the dealer was attempting to honor your request (though misguided). You wanted Bluetooth. So, possibly, the dealer used the non-hybrid Nav system in an attempt to allow you Bluetooth too.

I saw a red FEH on the entrance ramp. So, I moved over to allow him lots of room to do a nice slow acceleration. Nope. He must have floor it. As I watch him up a head, I would say that he drives in what I call "binary mode"; either the gas pedal to smashed to the floor or the brake pedal is smashed to the floor. He would speed up to the car a head of him as fast as he could, and when he reach them, slam his brakes on. After swing into another lane, he would repeat the maneuver. He did that, over and over again, until I lost sight of him.

I made the mistake of letting the dealership talk me into taking the only 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid they had on the lot on May 12th with the promise of having Navigation, Bluetooth, and some other accessories installed after the sale. DO NOT TAKE THIS OPTION!!!! ACCEPT ONLY FACTORY INSTALLED NAVIGATION!!!I finally was able to pick up my vehicle on Friday May 25th and while it appeared to be in good shape, here is what I found:
- The nav unit that was installed was for the non-hybrid Escape and was missing the energy flow monitor functionality
- The nav unit was not installed properly so it has an error at each startup
- The power was not installed correctly so Auto Day/Night dimming does not work and buttons are not backlit
- Still only have four speakers so where are the others????
- Aux line in not connected to nav unit
- Speed sensitive auto volume control does not work
The Bluetooth hands free phone kit worked flawlessly for 24 hours and then died and when I took a look at the 2008 Escape Hybrid Accessories catalog, it says that the Hybrid with navigation is not able to have bluetooth!!!! I have no idea when this nightmare is going to be over but Ford Motor Company is involved as my advocate so we will see...![Angry](https://electricvehicleforums.com/forums/images/smilies/emotikons/angry.gif)

My dealer installed NAV has the correct program loaded, so I have the hybrid screen. You may have the correct Panasonic unit with the wrong program loaded. You can run diagnostics on the unit. Hold down the 3 and 6 buttons for about 10 seconds. The list of diagnostics will appear. One selection reads back the hardware model number and the program number. My info is:
Audio System Software Version: 4-10-10-2006
Nav System Software Version: 2.030000
FES Product Software Product ID: ----
SPARS Product Software Product ID: 37-0-0-8-1
RCS Product Software Product ID: ----
DSP Product Software Product ID: ----
My NAV is also dealer installed, so I am anxious to hear if factory installs have the same version numbers.
You can also run On Demand from the diagnostics screen. THis runs a test of the connected features. It will displa error codes if it finds something not working.
Another selection displays the config for your vehicle. It will show the features enabled for your vehicle. It shows the other possible features disabled.
The 7 speaker system uses coaxial speakers (tweeter/mid range combo) for the front door speakers and a woofer in the righ rear. The woofer is an assembly that includes the woofer and amplifier all contained in one package. To change from the 6 cd radio to the Ayudiophile system, the dealer should put coaxial speakers in the front doors, and add the woofer/amp assembly in the back.
Some of your problems my be inccorrect wiring, and some may be incorrect configuration. I hope my installation was a plug in, and I hope they did not invade (splice) any wiring on yours.

Well that was a interesting screen. I wonder if there is also a secret screen like that where one could change some of those settings. Like it said that back up aid was disabled. as if to say that one could put in a back up camera and then enable that function. Also I wonder if in that screen one could also disable the not being able to make address changes etc while moving.

Can you post the version numbers from your screen? I want to know if my dealer installed vbersions are the same as the factory installed versions.

Does anyone know if the 2008 Navigation radio can be installed in an '06 FEH w/o navigation? I'm assuming that the new system uses a different wiring harness/ setup than the Visteon system (which my '06 doesn't have anyway!), and may have software differences as well.
Just curious to know if anyone has researched this, and what would be involved.
Thanks!
