Default Gas gauge sensor not working

I have always known about my "guess gauge". I drive a 2007 II Prius, and think there is something wrong with the fuel sensor. Last night, it was down to 1 bar and blinking, so I added $15. I'm used to it taking a minute or 2 to adjust the bars after refuel, so I drived it home. Turned it on this morning, and it was still blinking! I went to a new gas station, and added $10. Normally I can fit about 9 gallons in, so $15+$10=$25/$3.01 cost of gas = 8.30 gallons! It should be almost full, yet its still at 1 bar and blinking. I called my dealer, who told me to call my maintaince plan line. Called toyota, and that was a waste of time. Told me to take it into the dealer. I have no idea what could be wrong. I checked for a fuel leak, and didn't see one.

Any thoughts?
