Default Removing roof-rack bars

Has anyone removed the transverse R-R bars on their HiHy? Never use mine, and tried to get them and the sliding assemblies off to reduce windage/wind noise, but couldn't. No info in the manual.

Same situation here. I tried to get them off, but all I could do was slide them to different positions.

ClubLexus has a few threads on this topic. Here's one for the RX350 that I assume will work for the 400h:

I finally got around to removing my crossbars. I couldn't find the instructions that were once in the link in the previous post, but I did manage to figure it out. I am attaching a file with instructions for the 2008 HiHy.

Unhappy Re: Removing roof-rack bars

I believe that I am part of the minority that use my roof rack bars, but I am currently in a bit of a pickle. On my vehicle, I had (note the had) two bike mounts as well as a cartop box, and I frequently wash my at a local car wash. This last time, the chamois that goes over the roof of my car got caught on one of my bike mounts and broke the front crossbar right off. 1-0 in favor of the car wash. If anybody is wanting to part with their crossbars, and follow the PDF to uninstall them, I would gladly pay for their shipping! Thanks and many hypermiles!
