I traded a 1997 Nissan Altima purchased in 2004. It was a replacement for a 1986 Acura Legend that I bought new and which bonded me to Japanese cars forever.

 

Traded a 2004 lexus in May of 2007 for the tch.

It is a great road car, better than any BMW,MBZ I have owned. Any speed slower than 100 mph felt like you were holding up traffic. That's the best. Now the worest. More electrical issues than you can believe, transmission issues and a general lack of customer service. I will never own anything that is associated with VW. You can pick up an 04' V8 in the $30,000's
Can you say no resale But for 30k and an extended warranty it would be a great car.

 

Thank you. I did look at some locally in Orange County here and did find several 2004 in the low to mid-$30K's. Sounds like a real deal if I can swing it. But with an LS400 in the garage, it may be tough convincing the spouse to add another full-size luxury sedan...

Oh, as to what car I traded in for a TCH, it was a 2003 Toyota Matrix with 62K miles. One of the better driving little I-4 out there, until you gotta climb a hill before it becomes a dog. Otherwise, it runs like a champ and I so dearly love that car.... Oh well...

 

2004 Nissan Murano SL AWD which got ~20mpg versus my TCH at 37mpg overall.

 

2005 Chrysler 300C. Getting almost twice the MPG

 

We traded a 2005 Pontiac Vibe. It was a good car. Considered another before purchasing the TCH. Looked at both the day we purchased the TCH. The Toyota drive train in the Vibe was flawless. We wanted a little more car, quiter ride and a little more comfort. The TCH fit the bill perfectly. More miles per gallon also. I am fanatical about maintenance and took very good care of the Vibe, we commute 70 miles a day. The Vibe took two gallons a day or slightly more in the winter. Now less than 2 gallons a day in the winter and more comfort. Toyota quality in the Vibe sent us to Toyota to replace it with a TCH. No regrets in purchasing the TCH at all.

 

My 1997 Volvo 960 was totaled in an accident so this wasn't in the plans. As soon as I test drove the TCH, I knew this was the car I wanted.

 

Traded in a 2003 VW Passat that averaged 22 MPG and had huge maintenance costs. No regrets.

 

2002 Pontiac Boneville SSEI Supercharged requiring Premium gas. 20mpg avg.
