Ah another East Tennessean. You from the Knoxvegas area or are you further NE in the JC area? I've only seen 1 TCH in my area...

At prices of $50-70, you guys should really be doing the changing yourselves. It's cheap, and you know the work is always done right.

for my oil change, they used VV955 SYNPOWER OIL.
FIRST OIL CHANGE FOR MY TCH. They put 5 of this and one filter and total cost was $78.

VV means volvo something I guess.

I was told that once I use synthetic oil, I must always use synthetic oil and not change to regular oil. true?

not true. for new cars.

If you use regular oil you will just need to change more often.

Have 0w-20 oil prices gone up? I just called the Toyota of Kirkland Parts and they told me the price of the oil is $6.46. I've bought it there for my 5k and 10k oil change for $4.55 before and now it's $6.46???

I also called the Napa store in Redmond, WA and they sold it for the same.. $6 and some change..

what's going on?

Yes, here in NC, I got some (7qrts Mobil 1 fully synthetic 0W-20)a month or so ago from a remote WalMart and paid $5.97/qt before tax... NAPA was more expensive $6.49/qt or more... I might switch to 5W-20 since I can find it at my local Super Center WalMart in one 5qt container cheaper, but not sure if I want to switch to 5W-20, but either one will be fine...

I am afraid it will get even more expensive with the oil at about $80 a barrel...

I have a new '07 camry hybrid on the way. I talked to our toyota dealer's, mechanic in our small town. He told me its best to go to the 0-20 synthetic oil. He went on vacation this week, so I called around to find this zero oil. Nobody stocks it. There is a local oil distributor that can order it. Walmart stocked it a few months ago but no more due to it's slow sales.

Today I called toyota parts department and he said, yes they carry it. He also said he was pretty sure its really mobil one with a toyota label. It's about $5 and comes in quarts only.

I do know the thinner oil gives slightly better gas mileage. I read other car manufactures will also be coming out with hybrids in '08 and '09. This weight oil should be popular by then.

I have read before that Purolator manfactures the toyota filters. Purolator is a SAE tested full flow filter and beats out most all other filters. Well maybe not the mobile one filter. Purolator makes two filters. There top filter is called the 'Pure One'. There other filter is the 'Premium Plus'. It's about a dollar cheaper at pepboys. I visually compared them once and looks like toyota uses the 'plus filter'. I see on their website a toyota logo on the rear view mirror.
