TCG Navigation v 6.1 hacks
I've known about this method and I have witnessed where it goes wrong. If you leave it undone too long the NAV realizes that you messed with it and will lock out the screens again. This is because it can tell you are in fact moving via the GPS changes.
But yes, a hacked DVD is cheaper and easier. Works great for me.

2007 camry Navigation modification to enter destinations while driving
I know the early 2007 camry had a secret diagnostic screen you could access and people think version 5.1 of the nav DVD is the thing that enables this overide button, but from my conversations with technicians the lockout is built into the nav unit and not controlled by the DVD disc.
Your Toyota technician is wrong. The Lockout is in the software which is copied from DVD every time newer version is detected or power supply is interrupted (in other words you need to force software update from DVD) and I'm using this override as described elsewhere in this forum almost daily on my 5.1 NAV unit. I also know people who use one system file from disc 5.1 with 6.1 map data and it works just the way it should by giving access to phone book, destination screens etc. etc. while driving,
Without speed sensor your Nav system will show wrong position if the antenna won't see at least 3 GPS satellites, which may happen when driving in the tunnel, under heavy tree foliage or in the city with tall buildings around. Either way is not perfect (pain in the neck to press the screen five times each time you start the car with "soft" method and it is even bigger pain to take half the dashboard apart to use "hard" method, besides position error I mentioned above. What we need is somebody who can program that particular language and get rid of the lockout, together with this idiotic " I agree " button.

Hey, as for the earlier "re-wire & add switch" description.... has anyone (in this current forum) done it yet? The step-by-steps seem a bit vacant of some other info - or not in any order? But maybe its me?
If the screen blanks out while moving - how do you get it back? Reset your switch again?
I wouldn't mind doing the work to achieve an easy method of making changes while driving - however infrequent that may be.

For me, the hack DVD was much simpler and cheaper if you factor in time. If you do do this, could you take some photos and post a how-to?
Mike
I see - so if the NAV senses you are in fact moving it'll knock you out of the screen and then you toggle back into it.
I would much prefer to try the DVD hack but don't have:
1) The correct burner - earlier posts seemed to have problems with which one
2) The earlier version (5.1?)
3) The "techie" smarts to put it all together.
I guess I'm just a neandrathal in that I can work better with hand tools at
times more over than the software stuff. Unless someone wanted to "rent" me a copy for a few days.
I DO know how to copy (i think
)
I got my TCH late December so I don't think any button pushing works since I have 6.1
Any thoughts ?

If you have trouble let me know (PM me).
Thanks,
Mike
I got mine in January, so I have 6.1 as well.
HOWEVER,
You can PM me as well for help on a hack.
Peace,
Bob
SUCCESS!! thanks so much to all of you for your savy. after three failed attempts, i finally made my hybrid nav dvd on my iMac G5 after downloading a program called dragon burn (reccomended by a co-worker) and taking advantage of the free trial version. i inserted the burned dvd into the nav, up popped the map with my current location. i tried the override, no luck. so i removed the fuse and reinserted it after a few minutes, i tried the override again, and volla.
