So in this video, the guy shows a Toyota Venza with stereo bluetooth (A2DP) and streams music from an iPhone:

Now I know for a fact that A2DP is a software enhancement to any Bluetooth 2.0 device (I believe the TCH is BT 2.0). Do you think it will be possible to add A2DP functionality if we can get the venza version of the NAV system?

I can't say I've heard of any firmware updates for our radios, or even that it is possible without replacing the radio.

 

It has a different chassis... shaped differently... wiring is probably different as well.

 

Well it looks like the 2010 TCH will have A2DP, as per:

So I guess we'll have to see if we can just get the new firmware/ software, or if it's an entirely new NAV system...

I'm in the market for an iPhone adapter but if I can get the A2DP working then I wouldn't even need it.

Has anyone tried anything with this?

Also if it can't be done, are there any aftermarket kits that plug into the nav so we can get steering wheel controls?

 

I want to say that they are totally different systems, but I am willing to believe that the newer units will fit in the older cars... especialy if they are Denso units also...

 

If this is true- and you would replace it- you would get a ton of new features like USB connectivity (built in iPod interface)...
