Question about MPG on a short trip

Question about MPG on a short trip
I have a 1.5 mile commute to work. The first 1/2 mile is up and down some small hills. Then the drive is level and the last 2/3's of a mile is significantly down hill. And of coarse, if I drive straight home I'll be driving up the hill first. I'm looking at new cars and thinking of a Camry Hybrid. Will the hybrid be of any MPG benefit with this kind of day after day driving?

Re: Question about MPG on a short trip
Bruce,
From my own similar experience, I would bet that a stock Camry Hybrid will get you less than 20 mpg on this kind of trip, but with a plug-in conversion you could do 40 to 50 mpg.
I would also bet that you would not beat 20 mpg in any car.
What kind of car are you presently using for this duty and what kind of mpg do you now get?
