Not if it's a BTO (Build to Order) aka Out of Box. 90 days is about average for a stateside production. Longer if from JPN.

Yes it seemed rather long to me too. I told the salesperson, I've been told 6-8 weeks is almost always the case. The salespersons response was we tell all people that factory orders could take 2 - 4 months. I honestly think it will be much closer to 2 months.

Mine was ordered from the plant (BTO). I got the order in just prior to dealer allocation and have a few connections in the industry that helped it along by a few days.

Did having a few connections get you a good price too? I wish I knew someone in the industry.

Around here dealers have whatever you want on the lots. No lines, no waiting.

Combos like NAV no Leather are factory orders. Or Leather without the Moonroof or Convenience package. I doubt many dealers would order those combos on Spec. Those kind of roll your own packages are factory orders. I'm assuming you DON'T want the inferior PIO equivalents.

I understand that, but the OP said he ordered one fully loaded. And can you even "order" from the factory, or must you take whatever's coming in on allocation? I also understand that the packages offered varies by region, hence the need to enter your zip in the "build your Toyota" page.

Yes you can order from the factory. Even if the dealer had what I was looking for I wouldn't have taken it for one main reason. Dealers will always "add" stuff to the car so they car mark up the cost of the car. For example pinstripe, wheel locks, some protective crap on the seats, etc...I don't want to pay for all that extra stuff and my TCH won't have it. I saw a TCH in their showroom that had everything but Nav. With all the extra stuff they added to the car it was close to $32K. I didn't look to see what they added because I wasn't interested in the car. I was just curious what the total cost of the car was...

The other reason I wouldn't have taken the car is I'm not looking to buy until the end of March. Ordering from the factory would deliver the car right around that time.

I wouldn't stereotype all dealers as doing that. Mine certainly did not and still does not. If your dealer does that kind of thing (I'll assume it does) I wonder what other kind of shenagans it'll pull down the line?
If I happened upon a dealer that padded all their on lot vehicles I would certainly look for another dealer. Just on the principle of it.

Any dealer I've ever dealt with (whether buying or browsing) has always added extra stuff to the automobile. I guess I thought that was the norm.
