No, but the position of the antenna on the car relative to the ground plane is. Higher is generally better when it comes to holding car remotes, regardless of manufacture.

One of you fellow nut cases should try the old Pringle can trick (from the WiFi world). Cut a big hole in the bottom of a Pringles can, hold the remote in there, and aim the open end at your car. Maybe you can lock your doors from hundreds of feet away!

I would try it, but my wife won't let me eat Pringles.

I have to say that my best remote control was from my 94 Integra GS-R. That thing seemed like it had 1/4 mile range. No need for body range enhancements.

I have to say that the worst I've seen is for my current Saturn (only until my TCH arrives ). Range: 6" unless I hold it over my head, while walking widdershins under the full moon - then I get 8".

Yeah... my S2000 and MINI S have very short ranges. Not 6 inches though. More like 20 feet.

Lately I've had to almost touch it to the car. I thought it might be the battery, but I get the same thing with a fresh one.

If i put the remote in my back pocket, my buns of steel will help it unlock cars I don't even own.....(refuses to unlock a chrysler, though)
