Insert new DVD, you are done.
You will also lose all preset for radio.

I did the above steps. When I turned on the car it said, DVD missing. So I put in the new disc that I burned. But it won't load. Doesn't do anything. So I popped in the old disc and it picked it up. After that I checked the presets and they were not lost..they were all still there.

I used a Verbatim DVD+R DL to burn the file. Any ideas?

First, the steps are only necessary to make the system pick up the 5.1 setup info. To just test a new DVD, just insert it. Only when you know it works and you want to go backwards in settings (use the 5.1 instead of a newer one), is it necessary to do the power thing.

As far as your DVD is concerned, it seems to be a matter of which software, which DVD writer, and which brand of DVD as well as a perfect file burned perfectly. You might do what I did - get someone who has been successful to make the DVD for you.

Well, I downloaded the torrent that says it it ver 8.1 with 5.1 kwi file. I used imgburn to write the DVD. My DVD writer is the one that come with my Toshiba Satellite laptop.

I wouldn't mind getting it from someone who's made it, I just would like to figure out why this one ain't working!!

Well, I've not had any luck - technologically challenged I guess. I'd be very grateful if someone could make on for me!

Thanks

John

There is a 8.1 torrent without hybrid out there but i can't get it to work in my car. It loads up but then I get an error message saying it's not a dvd . Burned 4 times so far. The hybrid torrent worked for me though.

I found the non hybrid 8.1 iso image, and burned it directly with Toast on my Mac, and it worked fine.

I then tried burning a DVD with Toast with the 5.1 "LOADING.KWI" file, and it wouldn't work in the nav system (it didn't recognize it as a valid DVD).

I ended up examining the iso image of the non hybrid dvd with ImgBurn under Windows XP (running as a virtual machine in VMWare Fusion), and noted what kind of filesystem it used. It was ISO9660 + Joliet + UDF, UDF revision 1.02.

So I then tried writing files (swapping out the firmware file for the 5.1 version) to a DVD using ImgBurn and under the Options tab, I chose the options mentioned above. This resulted in a successful burn that was recognized by the Nav system on my Camry.

I ended up using ImgBurn because I didn't know how to be sure what settings Toast was using on the Mac.

Maybe this will help those of you struggling with getting this to work.

Good luck!
