Default Has anyone noticed...

I got in the car this morning and it was cold outside for FL. Temp read constant 28 and I noticed that with the climate control set to heat and auto the defrost and floor was on. I have not noticed this before, I have ony seen it put it on the floor. I took it off Auto and put it back on but the same thing happened. It went off after about 10 min and stayed on floor. I am guesing that the car might have thought that because it was so cold outside that I might have had ice, although I did not. I know there have been several post about the inteligence of this system.

Yeah I am not all that impressed with the ergonomics of the climate system, hate the fact that it pushes air in defrost when i did not ask for it and it also has a mind of its own on recirc, under some conditions when it is cold it open up fresh air. I also find the temperature regulation seems off, on cold days setting it to 70 has me melting form the heat yet on a 60 degree day I have to crank it to 74 to keep from getting chilled out.

I agree. On cold mornings I have to set the temp to 67 or 68 if I want the cabin to stay under 75 degrees!

Crappy regulation if you ask me and the recirc has a mind of its own.

Indeed, the auto mode often makes a very different decision than I would have under the same circumstances. The solution is, of course, to turn off the auto mode, and then you can do whatever you want. Unfortunately, the TCH LIKES auto mode, and will often return to it on restart. I'm sure the auto climate control was chosen as standard on the TCH for mileage reasons, to semi-prevent people from using it inefficiently. It could be smarter, though.

I've never seen the poor temperature regulation mentioned here, though. Setting temp in the mid 60's produces mid 60's in my TCH, regardless of outdoor temp. A thermometer confirms it. If you're dressed warmly because of the outside temperature, it may just feel too warm to you. A different target temperature is needed, depending on what you're wearing.

Now, an ever smarter system would compensate for THAT, too!

I can see where people are getting confused with the temp settings. Think of it this way. If is is 40 outside and you set your tewmp inside to 72 it IS going to blow heat. If it is 80 outside and you set the temp to 72 it is going to blow cold.
