The car I drive now does not have an MPG gauge. I'm used to watching the Civic Hybrid's gauge and adjusting my driving. I'm wondering what MPG gauges there are out there? Here are the ones I've heard of:

Cleanmpg.com frequently has group buys on the Scan Gauge. I have one in the MMH (even though it has an iFCD) and like it. You can adjust the color to 256 combinations so mine matches the MMH blue lighting exactly. It is also pretty easy to take from one car to another (except for the fact that it messes up your current tank info) so you can loan it to friends if they are going to take a road trip.

 

The Kiwi (picture a couple posts up) is a little novel, at least from what I've seen, in that it not only provides the gauges and trip logs, etc, but also analyzes your driving style/smoothness and gives you an overall score that you can work at bettering.

The Kiwi device looks great, although I checked the pricing and after everything it will cost $344 US. It seems like a great unit but a bit too pricey. I'm going to be checking out that group buy at CleanMPG if I can't find anything used.

 

I also need to have my replacement this month. My current MPG gauge goes from high to low irregularly and also does my RPM gauge. I need it as soon as possible.

You might verify that it's the scanner and not your car's sensors/computer first. Depending on the car's age and your location, the mfg'r might be on the hook to make it right under warranty.

I bought a plx kiwi, and I can get 33 mpg with the AC on and up to 41 mpg with the AC off. I guess I should add that I have a 2006 Mercury Mariner Hybrid (4wd). It really has helped me hypermile.

I have been very happy with it so far.

 

my sg2 has been awesome...i've been using it for over 1 1/2 years and it hasn't had any hiccups

 

ScanGauge is a great tool. I had one of those. You can buy it @ CleanMPG.com.

I will add that I have had better results with the Kiwi. It is easier for me to respond to graph bars vs numbers. According to the Kiwi, I have saved over $20 in gas so far. I hope it will pay for its self, but if not I know I am using less gas and making less co2 so it is still worth any savings.
