Went to start my 09 Mariner hybrid yesterday. It started then stalled immediately then wouldn't crank at all. I pulled the orange HV plug overnight and reinstalled. Got the same symptom - start then stall then no crank when trying again. I checked the fuel pump and it is working. Also have replaced the ETB. I'm running out of ideas on what could be the cause.

Engine shaking during start and stop typically would indicate an enginse problem. There are a wide range of things that could cause this: motor mounts, misfires due to electrical or fuel problems, etc.
