Did Ted Kaczynski or Timothy McVeigh sell crude oil? I must be missing something here...

Meh?

Having researched the new Prius starting in the autumn of 2003, when the second generation car came out, and then having seen both the new Prius and the new Honda Civic hybrid at the Grand Rapids, Michigan International Auto Show, I knew that it was time to take a stand.
Grand Rapids? Grand Rapids! That's like saying you went and saw the Empire State Building in Niagra Falls. Hey, it's close, right? (And he's from Michigan, so there's no excuse there; and even if there was, how does one confuse Grand Rapids with Detroit?) For a self proclaimed car nut, he's not even aware that it's the Detroit International Auto Show, (DIAS) not Michigan IAS.

So, what has this to do with the title of the piece? Well, if everyone in the United States drove a suitable hybrid vehicle, within a decade, we could cease imports of oil from nations which, apparently, seek to destroy our nation, our freedom and our way of life.
Like Canada, right? (They are the USA's biggest source of foreign oil) And by buying less/none, we starve them right out of existance, right?

Yeah, I know, it's a blog, but my tempers a bit short today.

Well I saw a poll saying that 40% of Canadians thought our president was worse than Osama bin Ladin, so maybe the Canadians are the ones seeking to destroy our way of life? They certainly don't seem to like the USA very much anyway. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to be truly energy independant and not importing oil from Canada, although I admit they're probably the 3rd to last country on Earth we really need to worry about doing anything to us.

I'll admit my frustrations with the Bush administration, even though I did vote for him.

I'd like for this administration to at least be enlightened when they help out the energy companies. Why not make big alternative energy projects for Haliburtion and Exxon attractive? Wind farms in West Texas or in the Gulf of Mexico? Tax breaks for fuel efficient vehicle - not land barges.

To paraphrase Donald Rumsfield - subsidize "new energy" - not "old energy".
