Default Yet another new guy!

Hello All--

My name is Richard, and I live in Scottsdale, AZ (suburb of Phoenix). My monthly driving went from 425-1,200 in June, 05, so I went looking for a hybrid. In July I found one in California, as you can't find them in Arizona. I bought a 2002 Honda Insight w/CVT just before Katrina and sky-high gas prices in August. My wife and I drove it back from Calif., over the mountains and through the desert at 85 mph with a/c full-on and got 43 mpg. Like others have said, it takes awhile to really learn how to drive it for max mpg. We're getting 50+ now, and are REALLY thankful that we make few(er) trips to the pump!

Thanks! Ever go to the Saturday Night Car Show @ Pavillions Shopping Center in Scottsdale (indian Bend and Pima Rds.)? My wife and I go often. In fact, I think that's where I first saw a Honda Insight, and thought it was just too wierd! Funny how 50+ mpg makes that car better-looking when gas is at $3!

It's everything they say it is, and a very SMART car. Doggone thing stops at traffic lights/stop signs so you're not burning fuel while idling! Just as soon as you let up on the brake pedal, it starts up again so smoothly that you'd never know it even stopped!

Ricco,
Glad to have another Insight owner aboard. 43 mpg while going 85 mph is pretty amazing! Just wait until the car encourages you to go a bit slower...then you'll see even better gas mileage.
