New to Green Hybrid - 2005 Prius Owner Since 10/05
I purchased my 2005 Prius (PKG #2, Driftwood Pearl) on October 7, 2005. I have kept a mileage log and have posted it to the database. At my last fill up (1/7/06) the car had 3615 miles.
My morning commute is 6 miles with 35 MPH speed limit, 9 stop signs, 4 traffic lights, 2 school zones (25MPH and 20MPH). Evening commute is the same without school zones. This 6 mile trip usually takes over 15 minutes (I get three 5 minute slots on the consumption display). Given these driving conditions, I am relatively pleased with my fuel economy, but I am always looking for ways to improve. For example, I now run 42F/40R PSI in the tires (learned on a different forum).
The Prius has forced me to evaluate my driving habits due to the feedback provided by the MFD. I have learned to anticipate stops and coast as much as possible. I have been using the "feathering" technique as much as possible. Due to the commute described above, I don't get too many "pulse and glide" opportunities.
