Since Your Hybrid Purchase, How Improved is Your Fuel Economy?
I think my drastic change is due to a change in driving habits and "striving" to get better gas mileage. (use less a/c, reduce avg speed from 80mph down to the speed limit of 60mph, increase tire pressure in stages, etc..)
The initial lifetime mpg was 48. Getting it to 56.6 was nearly an 18% improvement. If I was serious and got it to 65, it would be a 35% improvement.
I'm expecting a hypermiler to say something like they did not improve much because their fuel economy went from the statosphere to the ionosphere.

I am not sure what the question is asking.
My FE is up over 100% since I purchased my Prius compared to my Audi A4
.
However my FE is up only 20% after a few tank fulls and learning how to take advantage of the systems.

My year over year comparison of July 04 and July 05 in my HCH is as follows:
July 04 July 05 Difference
MPG 48.94 59.51 +10.57/21.59%
Tank 567.40 740.00 +172.25/30.33%
I am working on a tank now where the FCD shows 64.7, the best I've seen yet, but it is early in the tank (200 miles).

I'm confused too. Answering the question as I understand it, my mileage has improved nearly 100%. And note carefully that this is from my previous car, which was itself a Honda Civic (Si).
This improvement from 25mpg to nearly 50mpg can probably be attributed to:
- former car being more performance-minded (2.0L)
- some changes to driving habits (not drastic)
- hybrid technology

I meant: "how much improvement in your fuel economy since buying your hybrid?"
For instance, I got 48mpg when it was new - 56.6mph now. Improvment is nearly 18%. I don't mean compare it to what you had previously.
Sorry for the confusion.
