Maybe that will be my only rant today.
Well, I have mixed feelings concerning this. I think that their using their influence to the benefit of mankind is a good thing, but it is just as easily using their influence to the downfall of mankind, as well. How many people are famous for being famous, degrading social culture and wellbeing? Paris Hilton, Michael Moore...
Maybe actors can afford hybrid cars but I don't think its something "everyone can do." How much are used hybrids? I doubt you can get one for less than $14K. I'm not sure about that since I don't know how much a used insight cots. But my guess is that most people cant afford the luxury of a hybrid vehicle.
To an actor making 6 or 7 figures 20K isn't a lot for a car but to joe average that makes <100K it is a major hit to the pocket book.

Actually, used Prius cars are available elsewhere in the world for lower prices. We in the states have so few of them (relative to the total number of used cars) in comparison, that it is hard (but not impossible) to find one for under $14K.

So my guess is that now, with the right deal, a smart, diligent shopper could find a hybrid from under $14K in the USA.....
In fact, at cars.com, I just now searched and found 13 Civic Hybrids under $14,000 across the USA, and 4 Priuses...

Well for me, I thought I could not afford a hybrid at $20,000, I was looking in the $14 - 16 K range but when I factored in the savings in gas, it will actually cost me less in the long run than my previous car. But also for me I drive a whole lot and get reimbursed for mileage. I do at least 100 miles a day sometimes 200 and get between $20- $40 a day for mileage, so with me spending less on gas and still getting the same reimbursment, it works out for me. I know for a lot of people this isn't the case. And I think over the next few years most people will be able to afford a hybrid.

From Conan O'Brian, "I'm John Kerrrry, and I'm watching Judge Juuuuuudy." You don't know how happy that makes me.
