Fun story! I think I remember a few headlines several years ago when Leonardo di Caprio showed up to the Oscars in a Prius and started plugging away for hybrid cars. It was probably the first time a lot of people had even heard of hybrids- very good for the hybrid movement, IMO. Glamour, celebrities, hybrids... works for me! The fact that I remember it after all this time speaks to how effective that kind of endorsement can be. After all, that's how all the best ad companies work, and there's nothing like a little free advertising. Still, I watched the Oscars last night and didn't hear a word about this, so maybe it wasn't promoted very widely, or maybe I just missed it. Did anyone else hear someone talk about it on a pre-Oscars show?

 

I think it's cool that the movie stars *arrived* in hybrids. But it would be even *cooler* if that's *all* they drove.

Most of these pampered multi-millionaires probably view a 27' limo as a compact car, and probably own 20-30 cars each.

So I'm happy to see hybrids get promoted, but I don't believe that the average Hollywood Elitist is a true environmentalist.

 

I think it's funny and pathetic how gm has nothing to offer for the story, but was still mentioned for promoting luxury. I am so anti-gm.
