I hear you but those 3 months testing Air to Ground Radios were exciting times for this Army Helicopter Guy.

Top speeds -

- HCH from Los Angeles to Vegas: around 88 mph on a big downhill stretch
- 300ZX TT Los Angeles (desserted freeway): 152 mph and I thought my fillings in my teeth might come loose

Anyone knows what the mpg is at around 100 mph (Not a very high speed at a german Autobahn ;c) )? I'm planning on getting a HCH, and my current car consumes around 25-27 mpg at 100 mpg with AC on.

Default I've Done Both

You can easily dig up the goods on me. I've had my Insight 5.5 years, but pushed it hard the first two before I considered hypermiling. I've done 113mph a couple of times, raced people that whizzed past me....

I cruised at 95mph over about 100 miles to "show" a black Suburban he could not blast by me and got a recal or two. Probably the most abusive thing I did....

I've heard comments that remind me of when I floored the Insight. At full throttle, acceleration can definitely be sluggish, but the car was built for good milage, not racing - that applies to most hybrids on the road.

At almost 94,000 miles, my hybrid battery pack, BCM, MCM had to be replaced. Honda was nice to pay $6,500 after I put in $450.

You can say Honda has needed to recall their hybrids, esp the 2000 Insights, etc......bottom line is my driving also had a lot to do with the battery pack going out.

If your hybrid battery pack goes out prematurely and you do a lot of driving over 80mph, don't play victim.

kenny, you make me smile! I'd like to be like that all the time, but I guess I let them push me around a little, so I pick it up a bit when I feel like I have to. Sad to be so swayed by peer pressure, isn't it?
