Thinking about trading HCH in for an 09 Fit

Honda doesn't promote the Hybrid at all. Most dealers don't have one on display in the showroom. Yet a Honda salesman I know says they sell every one they get in. Perhaps Honda in Japan just isn't sending many to Canada.

End of model year. Honda Canada doesn't turn over the new model year on the hybrid until later. And the remaining ones are probably all Taffeta Whites.
The incentive to move them should be the fact that EcoAUTO is about to run out and anyone with a brain in British Columbia or Ontario should be jumping all over the remaining 2008s because the combined rebates make these vehicles cheaper than a mid-trim Civic Sedan. But people are stupid, so they turned their backs on hybrids altogether or got themselves 2009 Camry Hybrids (despite the new and early model year removing the Camry from the EcoAUTO eligibility).

Toyota's Prius sold 325 units in September 2008 and it is at 3851 units YTD, versus 120 Sept/1606 YTD in 2007.
The Civic Hybrid has sold 12 cars in September for 858 units YTD in Canada, versus 158 units in Sept 2007 and 1767 units YTD last year.
A year ago, the Civic Hybrid was slightly outselling the Prius and now it's almost disappeared.
Any general decline attributable to the government market interventions would be affecting all eligible cars, so there is some other explanation. I just don't know what it is.

It is kind of wierd. The Prius is $5000 more to purchase than a Civic Hybrid on top of it, so you would think the Civic would walk all over the Prius here in Canada re sales. These two cars are similiar in price in the US, so I can see the reason for the Prius selling more. I personally prefered the Civic after test driving both cars, but I do feel the prius has a better Hybrid system for city driving?. H

Really only 12? I see them around here in BC all the time. I would have thought that the numbers would be higher now that there are more paint and interior options available in the '09 HCHII but then again gas prices have come down for now and people are quick to forget $1.50/L gas.

Mike, I think most of it is made by the same person for all. The Hotel on the right heading east, at second ave. is good. Sorry for the delay I have not lived here long , so the Yale did not sink in. A couple years ago there was about 5 Smarts on a tour stopped in GF for dinner, were you part of the group?
