Sad Day, had a wreck

Re: Sad Day, had a wreck
airbags should only deploy from a front impact... if you got plowed into from the rear... they should not go off. If you got hit on the side then side airbags should go off... but you have to have them. As for curtain airbags, they too go off if hit from the side... but if i recall correctly, the HCH I doesn't have curtain air bags..

Gosh, stinks to hear you were in a wreck. The important thing- everyone's all right. The downside- the money. I hope you have good insurance! Although even if you do, it sounds like it was your fault, so your rates may go up now. Did you have to pay for the SUV's dent, too? Your insurance, I mean. I would think so. Yuck.
It sounds like you should have had a side airbag deploying in this situation. That's not a very comforting thought. How fast were you going? Maybe there's a minimum speed or force that you have to hit with to trigger the airbags. I'm just speculating.

I was going about 25 or so, the other car the same. It was kind of a sideswipe, two roads merging into one. But the hit was pretty hard. I definatley slid me a couple of feet sideways and I hit the hand hook hard enough with my head to leave a sore spot. It is still a bit tender. I would have thought the airbags should have gone off.
The impact was from the rear door through to the front door if that makes sense.

Hi Clay;
I just took delivery of my 06 HCH II. If you can afford to do it I would move on up to the 06 HCH II. It has alot of improvements over the older 2005 models.
Terry
BTW, Glad you and everyone else is okey.
