Default Are rear collision detectors available?

Does anyone have them? Is the wiring in them all?

I have rear AND front collision detectors in my HCH07. Manufacturer is Bosch.
They were dealer installed. But .... I don't know if you can get these where you live .... I'm in Europe.

Would you know if they are ultra-sonic, microware or laser based?
And finally, does your's come with a monitoring console or visual alert interface?

I have no idea what technology they use, sorry.

They only have audible warnings:
- when shifting into Reverse they give ONE beep (speaker is in the back somewhere)
- at 20 cm (8 inch) the beeps are continuous

I had them on my 2006 Civic hybrid and now on my 2007 Civic Si sedan. They are from Echomaster and are really easy to install. You have to drill holes in the rear bumper, but after that it is simple. You don't need to remove the rear bumper to do it.

Oops, it's my fault.

With all this talk about "collision detection" I got carried away and forgot that we've had "backup sensor" technology for almost two decades.

Anyhow, it is typical for the "backup sensor" equipment/kits to be based on ultrasonic principles and as such it is perfect for several types of applications. In general, it is particularly good for low speed and short distance collision detection.

The "collision detection" technology that is now making it into the higher-end vehicles is definitely another story which is what got me all revved up. Dang...
I guess we'll have to wait a little longer for that kind of feature, aren't we?

i am not exactly sure what the poster is looking for. but, i figured he ment parking sensor. but, i would like to have something like on the volvo or lexus that will slow your car down if it detects something in front of you. that would be a nice feature. but, i am sure that is high dollar item to do r & d and implement in mass.

I'm looking for parking sensors, for when backing up, that start beeping at a certain distance and beep more rapidly as you "close in", turning to a solid tone when very close. That's how they work on my F-350

i would recommend echomaster. that is what i have installed on my car. they were rated highly from consumer reports.

i found them easy to install and you can fish the wiring through the top of the bumper and the trunk to get access to the rear reverse lights. they are great since i parallel park everyday downtown in chicago.
