Default hybrid wheels fitment

I have a non hybrid civic (38 mpg hwy as advertised!, best mpg is 40, city avg= 32 mpg). My question is will the hybrid wheels 14" fit my civic? Thanks for the help.

Probably. The 7thgen wheels should be swappable. And though I haven't researched it I would guess the 8thgens would be interchangable with eachother.

You can go to www.tirerack.com and put in your car and see what the bolt pattern and offset are and do the same with the car you want to swap wheels with.

wil_um: tbaleno is correct. The civic wheels are interchangable within trim levels, both 7th & 8th gens. What you'd want to be aware of is the introduction of speedometer error - it would be small, but if you moved from a 15" wheel / tire to a 14" one (assuming no 'plus-one' or 'minus-one' changes in the tire aspect ratio), your speedo would start measuring 4-5% optimistic (ie; you'd be travelling slower than the car would indicate). There are ways around this, from changing to tires with a different aspect ratio, to recalibrating the speedometer, and probably one or two I can't think of right now.

If you're set on hybrid rims, I know someone with a set of '06 pie plates that might be persuaded to part with them ? Not a scratch on them, either (ok, j/k - but barely

Thanks for the help. I have a 05 civic so the pie wheels won't fit . I am liking 14 instead of 15 steelies for reduced weight drag. My wife will love the softer ride. She didn't like the harsh ride of our cr-v and thinks the ride of our civic as okay.

Well Mark, GreenAndBlue might not be interested in a set of '06 gen pie plates, but I'm driving an 06 EX, in Northern Illinois (Round Lake) and would be interested in talking about it with you, if you're serious.

Ping me on my email (sasparilla256@hotmail.com) and we can talk about it some more.

I'm curious - is 32 mpg pretty standard for city driving on the standard civic? I believe the '06 sedan is rated at 30mpg? Is this after quite a bit of city driving or a few trips? Do you use hypermiling techniques, or just drive it?
Thanks.

It is all city driving for 15 minutes. Not too much idle time. I shift at about 2200 rpm and cruise in neutral to redlights and put into neutral on decline of hills. I am probably sacrificing some brake life when doing so. No harsh acceleration since the shifts are at 2200, I don't want to lug the motor.

Thanks, wil-um. I was wondering if the normal driver would see 32. From what you described, I would guess they would probably see about the rated 30 in your commute.
