Default Non Hybrid civic alloy wheels on Hybrid

Can I purchase the regular civic alloy wheels from a dealer? If so would they take my hybrid rims as a trade in?

I am getting sick of having the center caps stolen off my car.

Thanks

I've never heard of anyone taking trade-ins on wheels before. My guess is that you'll find wheels from Honda to be rather pricey. When dealing with insurance, I've found it cheaper to buy aftermarket wheels than to get OEM replacements.

$100 a piece or lower and you can get some nice lightweight wheels.

There are many options for aftermarket wheels. They all have centercaps. How many times have they been stolen? Did you **** off any global warming skeptics?

The dealer would not take your wheels as "trade-in"s.

twice so far on a new 2008.

Had the same problem on my last car and I had to resort to siliconing the **** things on so they couldnt be easily pried off. The downside is that whenever I need to take the wheels off I have to sit there for awhile and chip away at the silicone.

Looks like Im going to have to start doing this now on my HCH II.

This ridiculous design (I know many mfgs do this too) of the center cap and the high cost to replace them creates a market for thieves to start stealing these things.

Default EX civic alloy wheels on Hybrid

I bought a set of "0" mile alloy wheels and tire take-offs from a brand new Civic EX on Craigslist for $300. There are plenty out there, just gotta look for them.

I have the 16" rims and tires on my Hybrid, and mileage is still in the high 40s.

You're right. I was thinking since the cap didn't cover the bolts it wasn't removable.

Orient express....do you know if the hub diameter is the same for a standard civic and hybrid? I am actually interested in the si wheels or the HFP wheels and wondered if they would be hubcentric on my car as well. I don't particularly like aftermarket wheels because they are not hubcentric. Yes they do have rings to insert but to me it is kinda cheesy. Since you did not notice much if any fuel mileage drop, I will consider shopping.

There have been several reports that the 17" SI wheels do not have the proper offset to clear the HCHII brake calipers. This of course can corrected with a 4-5mm spacer. I don't know if the 16" HFP wheels that are available are the right bolt pattern or have the right offset.

I don't recommend any rim greater than 16" because larger rims will require a lower profile tire and that may compromise the rolling diameter of the tire, not to mention ride comfort.
