I got on the Mobil site and asked them what the difference was. Here is the reply:

Mobil branded products are made to our own proprietary motor oil specifications and the Honda motor oil is made to Honda specifications.

:o

That was not any help. I found some 0W-20 at Advanced Auto. They had it on sale for $4.34 a quart, regular is $4.99 (I think).

The search continues.

Lakedude,

How can you compare a Honda to a 'Vette? Of course the the big Chevy is better. I've often dreamed of owning one. Someday I will. I have other toys, like a twin-turbo ski boat, but I digress...

Anyway, the HCH is a great econobox, and I am partial to the manual transmission. But comparing this good, economical car to a supercar is very much apples and oranges.
If someone were to compare acceleration, braking or skid pad results between a Vette and a Civic, the Vette would of course come out on top and any such comparison would be meaningless. However as you say the Civic is an econobox and as such you might expect it to be superior to the Vette as far as money saving features are concerned.

My HCH does get about twice the mileage of my Vette and I'm very happy about that. What I'm a little disapointed in is the real time mpg display on the HCH. The Vette's display is better.

I also prefer the way the Vette controls gas flow over the HCH. On the Vette if you hold your foot steady the real time display will vary just a few tenths of a mile per gallon. It does not matter if you are going up or down hill, the only thing that matters is you foot positon and the speed you are traveling. If you are gaining speed because of a down hill and your foot does not move the display will show the mpgs slowly increasing with the speed of the car.

On the HCH the computer does whatever it wants based on speed, foot position and load. The instant mpgs will swing wildly up to 4 bars with your foot in the same place. This is very annoying as I like to ramp up to speed just before an uphill while still going downhill. Because there is little load on the car going downhill you must push the pedel a long way down to get any extra gas out of the computer. As soon as you hit the uphill part the computer senses the extra load and automatically stomps the gas all by itself.

Sorry I'm not explaining it very well. Trust me it is hard to second guess what the computer is going to do in response to more or less load. A lot more user input is required. On flat ground or shallow hills the HCH acts fine but steep hillls are a pain to navigate.

Please don't take my nitpicks to mean that I don't like the HCH. I LOVE my HCH, in fact for my old bones the HCH is a lot more comfortable than the Vette, so much so that I will very likely sell the Vette someday.
