Re: Can I do it?
haha i'll be glad to make it to 600 miles on a tank i've never topped off a tank, never will. besides, i live close enough to gas stations that it isn't inconvenient to fill up..12-15 days at a time

Hey Tom-
you can do it! my gas light comes on at 2 bars and I've gone 25 miles after that and filled 10 gallons. I have the 11.8 gallon tank (pzev) so that means with 2 bars there's at least a gallon left. If you've got 4 bars- AND your tank holds more- you've got to have at least 2.5 gallons left
so go for it.
Myles & I are going for the first pzev 600 mile tank. ok- so it's not the first....but it will be a first for us! don't think I'm going to make it this tank though- I was doing really good till last week when it got cool again, and my mileage went back down to 49 from 54. bummer.

Re: Can I do it?
Speaking of topping off, I learned this about the Civic GX natural gas vehicle:
"If driven from LA to Washington DC, the GX would emit less pollution than spilling a teaspoon of gasoline on the ground."
Pretty amazing, huh?
Anyway, on the 700 mile thing - I have seen in my car that I usually have about 1.5 to 1.75 gallons left when the "low fuel indicator" comes on for the first time. So even taking a conservative number of 48 MPG, I believe I can get AT LEAST 72 more miles. Many times, my low fuel warning light will come on, then on a later driving session it will again turn off. I have two tanks over 700 MPG for far, with the 13.2 gallon tank !! Good Luck All !!!

I think you will do it... the pucker factor will be high though!
Your MPG numbers are getting better and better, I would think you are driving more conservative than ever before.
Good luck with your personal challenge.
