Looks like Virginia is having a problem with HOV lanes getting tight. They are extending access for hybrids in the HOV lanes and trying to increase the penalty for cheaters.

I think we should consider the same in California. Then I can enjoy the 210 freeway instead of having to take surface streets

 

Yes, but it's not really a matter of increasing the penalty. The issue is lack of enforcement. Right now the chance of getting caught cheating on the HOV lane is probably less than 1 in 100. If it was one in ten, and they had to pay the same $271, there would be no cheaters.

 

i got mine in the mail today! mailed off on the 4th, they received it on the 10th. check was cashed on the 26th and stickers in on the 2nd. boy, it seemed longer than it actually was!

 

Finally got my stickers yesterday!

12/30 - application mailed (with license plate number)
1/27 - check cashed
2/2 - stickers received
Probably saved me 15 min. on a way to work this morning, love it!

I got my stickers yesterday! Mailed in the application on 1/9/2006, got them on 2/2/2006. #46XXX. I actually fully expect to be pulled over if a cop is watching when I go on an HOV lane since I haven't seen a single other 2006 HCH yet so the cops wouldn't be expecting a car like that in the HOV lane without multiple people. But I mainly got them to hopefully increase resale value anyway.

Interesting that others who got theirs today and yesterday have higher numbers.

Along with the certificate you keep in your car, there's a business size white envelope with the placement instructions printed on the front. (Can't help wondering why they printed this on an envelope? What am I supposed to put in it--my certificate maybe?). The placement instructions are quite specific and detailed with 4 separate graphics, including diagrams and arrows, reminding me of the Alice's Restaurant song.

You do realize the law is set to expire in 2007 or 8 (can't remember which one) if its not extended right ???? You would need to sell your car well before then for it to warrant the price increase justification.
