I don't believe it. I would like to see the odometer statement. 500k miles on any car gots to have some major wear and tear. suspesnsion, the engine mounts, transmission. Even if it is the most reliable car in the world I would need proof. Any kind of proof at this point.

Maybe, the battery pack was used so little (since it was "99% highway driving") that the battery pack went bad? I think it's unlikely.
The battery pack has tens of thousands of cycles in it. Whether you use them up rapidly or leisurely is up to you. And you do use them on the highway.
