I stand corrected - the 1.3 Liter IMA engine is timing chain
with this part number Honda SKU: 14401-PWA-004

1st time I have seen a Honda 4 banger with a chain - should last 250,000 miles (or more). The water pump is suggested at 100,000, not mandatory.
Beats the Accord needing $1300 in work at 100,000 miles ( dealer price not real cost ).

Yeah, Harold is right.

Before I purchase my Civic Hybrid, Honda confirmed that engine comes with timing chain.

check here... http://world.honda.com/HDTV/news/2005-4050705b/

we can see the chain on the left hand side inside the engine block.
the belt outside the engine block is the one driving the aircon which needs to be replaced periodically.
