But its a dry heat!! j/k. You sort of have to take the FE hit, you could die at those temps... I bet you can easily make it up in the winter though, while my car's FE is dying from the cold...

Hey! Why doesn't everyone just move to the beach here in Southern California?

Opps, I forgot.
They already have.

You know, when I go pick up my daughter at school for instance, it is not rare I see a Cherooke or a Durango waiting in the parking all windows closed using more fuel than us at 55mph and using their A/C when the outside temp. is a nice 60f (16c). We do more than our part and it is not the A/C button we should kick but the hindquarters ( I hope the translator worked well) of the Durango owners.

Just see how many new 2007 Cherooke/Durango will be sold this year and you will see that it is not using or not your A/C, hybrid drivers, that will save the planet.

From a post over on civicforums.com:

You may have noticed that when you turn on the windshield defroster, by default, the a/c will run to provide de-humidified air to the windshield. That is the way Honda has set it up in most of its' recent models. [...] Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem that is not documented in the owners manual! As I said, it appears to work with most recent Honda models and I have tried it successfully on my 2006 Civic. Here's how to reprogram the defoster

Hope that helps some of you trying to control your AC completely!

Thanks
That one's to detach the AC from the defrost function.
Is there another one to detach the AC from the fan ****?

You really want a solution, huh Kenny? This isn't it, but what I've been doing is never turning my climate control system off. When I turn the car back on, it resumes on whatever settings I had before I turned it off, which was just fan, as usual. If for some reason the fan is making me cold, I just turn it down to the lowest setting. I rarely turn my system all the way off. This way I never have to fiddle with the A/C off button. A full fix would be nice, however.

It says AC OFF? Once its in AC OFF mode, as long as you dont turn your system off it will stay that way.
