i would highly HIGHLY recommend that anyone owning a hybrid invest in the extended warranty...especially since the 7 year portion is not comprehensive on all of the hybrid parts.

So ending to my story: dealership reduced the overall price of the repair to ~900 and american honda is covering half of the bill. I am much MUCH happier now. I asked the service adviser if I can purchase the extended warranty out of warranty and she said yes, so I'm researching those options now.

I am thoroughly content with their response...my wife and i have owned or leased 9 hondas in our lifetime, and i was about to trade both our civic and our odyssey in for either subarus in the next couple of months. Crisis adverted.

Hello HCH owners,

Did you see any precursor of the problem with rotor position sensor such as lack of power, jerking etc.?

When the position sensor fails, you will see several fault lights come on, and the autostop function will stop working.

I mean BEFORE the actual failure was anything unusual in car's behavior?

Well, if you are looking for pre-failure symptoms there were none, as nothing had failed yet.

From day one I've always had a "bump start" issue where when the car went into Idle Stop and i then lifted off the brake before coming to a complete stop or quickly after reaching a quick start, the car would drop the clutch and it felt like I got hit from behind lightly. Now that the sensor is replaced, I haven't felt the issue at all and have not been able to force it to take place like I was able before.

Has anyone seen a P15A5 combined with a P0000?

i took delivery in october 2006
My question to Honda is "Why didn't it do this in the first 1 1/2 years of ownership".....

What kind of scan tool did you use? Concerning DTC P15A5. It may be accompanied with DTC P0A3F, P0A5E, P0A5F, P0A61, P0A62, P0A64, P0A65, and/or P1440. The description is Motor Current Sensor Circuit Malfunction.

Default Scan Tool and Code

I am using a Snap on Modus scan tool and I pulled a P0A7F "Battery Deterioration" and this was after the 09-058 update. The dealer performed two alleged new updates, 01-084 and 03-002.
The IMA light is gone, much less battery assist, and the IMA battery goes belly up just as quick.
