Pretty much.

1.5You've input 3.5Ah out of 5.5Ah total.

The first ~0.7Ah is unusable, i.e, think of this as re-activation energy needed to make the cells work in their normal operating voltage range.

Peak voltage is usually around 195V.

It also becomes less efficient above 70-80% SoC, so the rate of increase will slow.

Drove the car for the first time after the final balance charge and after sitting overnight. The IPU fan ran immediately after starting the car which was surprising considering how cold it was outside The fan also made a screeching/whining noise when it started. Sounded like failing computer fans that I've had in the past that were in need of lubrication. Since I left the rear seat removed I reached back and smacked the IPU lid a couple of times and the fan ran normally. Hoping that I don't need to replace the fan.

I had a forced charge and positive recal almost immediately when starting to drive the car.. I didn't disconnect the 12V battery prior to removing the hybrid battery. I was hoping to avoid the car force charging a full battery. Also had what I'm going to call a mild positive recal maybe two or three times. The battery gauge would gain 1 to 3 bars. Didn't have any negative recals. The battery seemed to perform well but I'm going to do a bit more driving to see if there really is an improvement.

Thanks for your help.

Always best to disconnect the 12V to clear the computer. Start and let the car idle for a few minutes. until the charge/discharge portion of the gauge goes dormant while idling.

Initial install behavior can be a little erratic. Performance when driving is what matters.

Make sure you always drive with the IPU lid on. If you open the IPU lid, or there is a significant leak, cooling is disabled (open) or reduced (leak).

Okay. I will disconnect the 12V battery prior to charging in the future. I do have the IPU lid installed but didn't reinstall the rear seat in anticipation of another charge/discharge session. I appreciate the suggestion.

One thing that I've noticed about the HCH 2 is that it seems to try to maintain a certain range of SoC with mild forced charging. Maybe my previous G1 Insight did the same thing but I don't remember it.

If I'm lucky enough to see a battery performance improvement, do you recommend another discharge down to 66 volts?

Thank you very much once again for your help. You are very kind.

Have a good weekend.

No seat is fine.

Due to issues with the HCH2, the 2012 patch to the computer tries to keep the battery at a higher state of charge and will recal regularly before actually trigger an IMA light.

At highway speeds (or possibly RPM related) the car will sometimes force charge at one green bar for a period of time and seems to keep the SoC in the 5 to 8 bar range. I have no idea how the BMS manages the SoC so I could be completely wrong on that. Just my observation. I doubt that most HCH2 owners look at the battery gauge very often, and they shouldn't have to. I watch it pretty closely.

that's within the realm of normal, but regular occurrence may indicate the battery is struggling to retain charge.

That makes sense. I'll drive the car some more but am leaning towards another discharge to 66 volts if you think it's worthwhile.

If the performance isn't acceptable, and it's not worse than before, sure, another discharge but to 66V FOLLOWING another full charge.

Thanks. I will continue to monitor the battery performance. If need to do another charge/discharge/charge cycle, should the balance charges still be 32 to 36 hours?

Any maintenance charging recommendations for the future?

I appreciate the help.
