CVT fluid

Re: CVT fluid
Very informative post. I have had my CVT drained by the dealer and I think they just drain and filled it once. I think my wrench came on at 28k.
My only suggestion is instead of draining the CVT (3 times at once) why not just change the fluid every 10k miles, thus you are able to distribute new fluid over time. Then its just the like the old days when it was recommend to drain the tranny every 10-15k.

Re: CVT fluid
Yes, I can confirm that this is the case. I had mine changed (not flushed) at 23K and the old fluid looked and felt good. No traces of metal shavings etc.
Just got a note from a friend who works at Honda corporate. I asked him to confirm Honda's position on the CVT fluid change. The official word? Normal maintenance is just the single fluid drain and fill UNLESS you find metal shavings in the fluid. Then the 3x drain & fill is used.
Glad to get the official word on this. It'll save me lots of $$$ on fluid!
